I am anticipating a lot of confusion about my blog name. While I explained a little bit about it on my first post, I wanted to sit down and truly unravel its meaning.
As I have shared before, I am married to my high school sweetheart, Greg Chaplain, and we have been married for over 25 years now. While our life together has had its fair share of ups and downs, the joy that we have seen is truly remarkable. I am one lucky gal who married a hard working and truly optimistic man.
And this blessing, as well as many others, is what has inspired this blog.
And so, as I married into the Chaplain name, I now share a name with that happy man. Throughout the years, Greg has worked hard in every job he has done. And while we were a young couple, just married and working like dogs, Greg maintained such a positive attitude that some of his coworkers gave him the nickname “Happy Chappy”.
And since then, our immediate family has used the word “Chappy” in place of “happy” just for fun, like Chappy Thanksgiving!
So when I set out to create my blog, I had this unexplainable urge to use the word “chappy” in my title. I know it is silly and I know it is somewhat of an inside joke, but I felt this urge and didn’t question it.
So while I was pondering what my blog name would be, and I had this idea of “chappy” in my mind, I thought forward to what I want my blog to embody, what I want it to convey, and how I want it to represent myself and my life.
As a follower of Christ and just a regular person living in today’s crazy world, I have faced my fair share of hard times and rough moments. However, I have continually made it my goal to set my eyes on Jesus and live my life, to the best of my abilities, with great joy.
I remembered the common phrase of “Living the happy life”, a mantra which, it seems, all people want to live by. A mantra which, it seems, many people are struggling to live by.
And so, with a slightly humorous twist, I have created “living the CHAPPY life” as a means to communicate my thoughts on living life with abounding joy, no matter the circumstances, in your faith, your family, and your lifestyle.
This blog, with all its quirks and flaws, is merely the avenue for my thoughts to be communicated. I am deeply passionate about living a life that honors the Lord, serves others intentionally, and strengthens your health at the same time.
While I, and this blog, am a very imperfect being, I pray that I can help you, in some way, take a step closer to – living the chappy life.
Thanks for stopping by!
